GATH’s “Civil War Correspondents Arch”

Civil War Correspondent's Memorial Arch, Gathland, MDOn my first visit to Burkittsville, Maryland (the town where “The Blair Witch Project” was set) I captured this image of the War Correspondents Arch at the Gathland State Park in Maryland.

The War Correspondents Arch is a National Historic monument. Constructed in 1896, the monument stands fifty feet high and forty feet broad. The monument is administered and maintained by the National Park Service.

The visitor’s center is now open on weekends from 9am – 5pm.
